Airlie

After many years the 1929 Tancook schooner Airlie arrived back in Nova Scotia on November 18th, 2022. Airlie was slated to be broken up in Connecticut at the end of September but NSHSRS rescued her.

Airlie was the winner of the inaugural race of the Nova Scotia Schooner Association on July 25, 1961 at Hubbards, St Margarets Bay.

Harley Schofield, the new owner, plans to restore her over the next couple of years at the South Shore Marine

NSHSRS organized a gathering at South Shore Marine on November 22nd, 2022 to welcome her back, with many people showing up to see her, swap stories and have a hot drink on a chilly Tuesday morning.

Although NSHSRS will not be directly involved in the restoration of Airlie, we are proud that the society saved her, and we’ll keep track of her progress over the next few years.
